background / biography

Monica Martin has held various teaching and performing positions in Canada before moving to Australia in 2008.  She was an instructor at the Alberta College Conservatory of Music, Prime School Music and Edmonton Public School Board in Edmonton, AB Canada where she taught students of all ages and levels of expertise.  She was a casual member of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, served as first and second violin of the Symphony of The Kootenays and Canadian Chamber Music Orchestra.  She has also performed with popular artists including K.D Lang and Il Divo.


More recently, Monica has performed with the local Barrier Reef Orchestra, the Ulysses Chamber Music Series between 2008-2010 and remains active as a solo and chamber music player.  Monica is currently employed through Education Queensland as an Instrumental Strings Instructor and is the creator of the Highly Strung String Duo.


Caroline Lloyd-Doolan has enjoyed a rich tapestry of performance and teaching over the years.  As well as being a founding member of the Orpheus String Quartet and the Barrier Reef Orchestra, Caroline was the Chamber Liaison Officer for the Ulysses Chamber Music Series which ran a series of concerts in Townsville from 2007-2009. She has also been a guest artist since 2006 of the International Paradise Concert Series directed by international artist Kirtley-Leigh Paine on both violin and viola.  She regularly performs with Australian and international artists including violinist Leigh Paine, cellist Markus Stocker and pianist Ambre Hammond to name a few, and has been invited to perform as part of the Paradise Series at this year’s Cooktown Festival. 


For the past 14 years, Caroline has run a successful multi string program with Education Queensland and teaches nearly 200 students per week.  She has also written a number of student orchestral pieces and solo works for young players.
